Ex-Chief Engineer at RAK Studios in London, James has acquired a
wealth of experience in recording and mixing in both the analog
and digital realms. He has also worked with many of the world's
most eminent producers such as Butch Vig, Alan Moulder, Flood,
Rich Costey, Gil Norton, David Bottrill, Kevin Shields, Daniel
Lanois, Brian Eno, Elvis Costello, Stephen Hague, Marius de
Vries, Hector Castillo, Dimitri Tikovoi and Phil Thornalley.
James has had an excellent year as both a recording engineer and
mixer, working with bands as diverse as the Arctic Monkeys, Bear
Hands and Jane's Addiction. As a producer in his own right, he
worked with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and British singer/
songwriter David Ford.
He recently recorded and co-mixed the new
Foo Fighters album 'Wasting Light', a project that was made
entirely on analog tape. The process was documented in the
feature length movie, 'Back & Forth'.
In years past, he
engineered the Nine Inch Nails album ‘With Teeth’ and mixed both
‘With Teeth’ and ‘The Downward Spiral’ in 5.1 Surround Sound. He
was also heavily involved in the last two Placebo albums ‘Meds’
and ‘Battle For The Sun’, recording both, as well as mixing the
singles ‘English Summer Rain’ and ‘Infra Red’. He has mixed
albums for Counting Crows, Jeff Beck, Infusion, The Oohla’s,
Young Love, and The Levellers, and tracks for The Killers, Ash,
The Bravery and Brazilian Girls.
