moothside was created by Barbara Jeffries, whose career in the recording
industry began back in the days when Virgin only sold music.
As Managing Director of the renowned Manor Studios, she oversaw a complete
restoration of the studio and the 17th. century Manor House which soon
attracted artists from all over the world. Under her direction, one studio
quickly grew into a respected group of studios, which included The
TownHouse, Manor Mobiles and Olympic. Steered by Barbara, the studios boast
a long list of credits from Prince, The Jam, Stevie Wonder to orchestral
recordings for major film soundtracks.
In 1987, Barbara began Smoothside with a roster of four producer/engineers
whilst still at Virgin, deciding to concentrate solely on artist management
following Virgin's takeover by EMI.
Smoothside's roster has now grown to eleven and includes producers, writers,
programmers engineers and arrangers, whose enviable talents over the
years have contributed to in excess of 30 platinum albums, several Grammy
nominations and numerous No. 1 singles and albums.
